The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has initiated a Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study to document the proposed ultimate widening requirements for the section of Highway 401 from Courtice Road easterly to the Durham Regional Boundary (East Townline Road). The project limits are located in the Municipality of Clarington, Region of Durham.
As part of this study, alternatives will be generated and evaluated based on technical and environmental factors, and in consultation with public stakeholders, municipalities and government agencies. A Transportation Environmental Study Report will be prepared and made available for public review at the completion of the study.
This study will follow the approved planning process for a Group ‘B’ project under the MTO Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000).We encourage you to review the contents of this website and provide us with your feedback.
